Fall...moving onward and upward

Onward and upward....my new motto!

Hard to believe that we are in the middle of fall, but we are doing great. The kids and I went to Linvlla last week to get into the swing of the autumn season. It was a cold and windy day, but the kids loved it- from the playground to animals to hayrides. It was awesome to see their joy and be reminded how they're young only once.

Aiden has recovered well since his hospital stint and doing much better. He's enjoying school and yesterday he had his VIP day. Each kid gets a day about them where their family comes in and they tell their class all about him. Aiden did so well and I was so proud of him! He was so excited for a day about him too! Aiden decided to read his favorite book (Pete the Cat's Big lunch) to his class and he did great reading almost every word!
Aiden is wrapping up soccer this weekend too. He has really enjoyed playing in a league. While he's not the best player- he's got a great attitude and spirit. We have decided to sign him up for a winter indoor league since he really loves it.

can't believe this precious little boy is going to be 6 in a month. He has defintely branched out and become more outgoing, but his heart is still so sweet and he's such a great kid.

JP is doing great too...crazier then ever, but still our little snuggle bug!

JP had his Ortho check up today and he's has healed beautifully and doing great!! It's amazing how much can change in a year- these
visits have become so much easier. He now does X-rays with no tears and no need to be held down anymore. Today he was excited for a picture of his piggies!!

JP is also so good during the waiting period as these appointments are general a couple hours, although the iPAD helps tremendously- lol. Today he got a brace for his "good foot". This brace will help to keep his foot position right and flatter. He tends to turn his foot in and walk on the instep which is most likely due to an overcompensation for his condition. JP might be also getting a new AFO (brace) for his FH leg....insurance approval pending. This brace would be an articulating one which would give him an opportunity to use his ankle in a more "normal" function. So it's very exciting and we are keeping our fingers crossed that insurance is nice to us!!

All in all his check up was great and we are moving on to the next stage. JPs next surgery is March 2015. This surgery will be 3 hrs long and result In JP being in an external fixator for 6 months.

Doc is hoping to "grow" 5cm from his tibia/leg, but only time will tell. We are so excited and scared at the same time! We are happy to start the legthening process to give JP a chance at two even legs, but it's scary to think of another surgery for our baby. Scary to think of 6 months dealing with this contraption that has pin turnings and possible pinsite infections. And the most scariest part...me learning how to sow and alter clothes...lol

All in all, we are doing well- enjoying fall and moving onward and upward!
