Potty Training, Baby update, and Mini Vaca

Sept has been an interest month to say the least. When Hurricane Irene hit, we decided to start potty training....I mean we weren't going anywhere anyway. Potty training has been my least favorite part of parenting. Aiden has transition so well throughout the years from giving up the bottle, to giving up the pacifier, and going into a bed. Potty training has come with struggles, but I'm sure there are other horror stories out there that are worse.

By the second day he was doing great and by the end of the first week, he regressed. I would say that after the first two weeks, he did master #1. Aiden loved the idea of wearing new underwear a few times a day that after going on the potty he would say he needs a new one, even though they were dry. I guess that's what I get for buying him cool underwear- LOL. He also started sitting all the time (whether he had to go or not) to get a treat. Aiden did pick up quickly enough that now if he's wearing a diaper (typically at night time or long trips) he still tell us when he has to go. Not to be to graphic, but after 4 weeks we're still struggling with #2 on the potty, so there's lost of "cleaning" going on in our house and I pray he catches on soon. I don't why I waited till I was pregnant to do this. He also won't go on anything, but his little potty, so being out is a bit of a pain and we now travel with a potty (I actually got a travel potty, but he's not a fan of that yet).

This week, Aiden mastered taking off his own diaper, which might seem wonderful to people, but it's at 6:30am and sometimes it's not clean or he has to go and his potty isn't in his room, so he just goes in his room. I definitely need more patient with this, but I must say Keith has done a great job encouraging and trying to keep up his enthusiasm. I must say this is very trying!

Our second child, Baby 2.0 was doing well at my 16 week check up on Sept 14th. The heartbeat was 155 beats per min. They said all looked good and my weight gain is just under 5 lbs. I'm still wearing regular pants, but did move into some maternity shirts because some of my regular shirts are getting a bit tight. I'm finally starting to look pregnant, though the women in Motherhood the other day questioned it- LOL. I am also starting to feel pregnant and have become very uncomfortable fast, it's prob because I'm doing so much and not sitting around like last time, but the doc says it's normal stuff for 2nd pregnancies. We're scheduled for our next drs visit and ultrasound, Oct 10th. Can't wait....start thinking about your guesses- boy or girl as we'll (hopefully) know it about two weeks.

Lastly, a couple weeks ago, we got to go away for a mini weekend vacation down to the Jersey Shore courtesy of Keith's friend George's mom. She has a nice house in the Villas (the back bay of Wildwood/Cape May) and said we're invited to use it anytime they're not there. It was suppose to be a nasty weekend, but turned out to be sunny and 80 degrees everyday. We went to a water park, the beach, and the zoo. Aiden loved playing in the bay and enjoyed the rides so much that after 3 hrs on them we had trouble bribing him away with ice cream. His favorite ride was the tram car....or as it called it the train. We rode the whole boardwalk down. The zoo wasn't something Aiden enjoyed much of as he could careless about the animals...guess I'm not raising a nature lover. Well enjoy the pics!

Aiden has decided to get in on the blogging and wanted to share...

That's right, we are expecting #2. I was 12 weeks this past Monday, August 15th (my nephew's bday). I'm due Feb 27th, but will be induced a week early to prevent the complications I had with Aiden and a possible c-section. So far, we had two appointment and ultrasound and all looks good. On Monday, the baby's heartbeat was 160 beat per min. For those wondering, we will be finding out this time (I hear many sighing in relief- LOL), but we will be keeping the name a secret to the big day (although if it's another boy that won't be to hard since it took forever for us to come up with Aiden). Here's Baby Giosa version 2.0 first picture, we'll keep you posted on both our little ones in upcoming blogs.

Vacation, birthdays, and tantrums

THE GANG INFRONT OF THE HOUSE

FAMILY SHOT

Welcome to the end of July- it's been a busy month with 4th of July celebration, our week long vacation to Outer Banks, Keith's birthday, and a month full of terrible 2's.

We're hoping everyone is enjoying their summer and has been trying to beat the heat. We have kept cool by the pool. We spent the forth of July going to the parade and meeting up with Marc, June and their kids Natalie and Marc. Aiden loves hanging out with his cousins and he loved the parade....as long as there was no firetrucks waling on their hornes. It never bothered him in years past, but this year it got to him.

We followed the 4th of July up by ending to the shore that Sat for our week long vacation to Outer Banks, NC. We loved it there and stayed up in Corolla. Unlike last year, we actually had NO hurricanes and made it through the full week- hooray! We went with our good friends Frank & Nicole, and Kevin and Nicole and their two kids Ava and Colin. Aiden loved having friends to play with all week (and so did Mommy and Daddy). He also loved the sand and the ocean this year and had no fears with either. Our week was full of sunshine and was just relaxing and gorgeous. It went by two quick, but we had a lot of fun and grateful for the laughs and time spent with wonderful friends.

Yesterday, (okay really all weekend long) we celebrated Keith's 34th birthday. Sat, Keith and I went to Atlantic City to see a comedian Daniel Tosh and get some great dinner. Then Sunday (his actual birthday) we did a family day going to the movies and Aiden and I made him dinner.

Lastly, it appears we are now learning terrible 2's....hardcore. Our sweet, pretty obedient boy left us somewhere along the way and has turned into a boy who cries or gets mad (sometimes hits or yells) when he doesn't get his way. The last week has been definitely the trying part of parenting. He has never acted like this before so it's getting the best of us and making us exhausted...not to mention he also has learned the art of prolong bedtime. Everyone says it's a phase (as a parent you learn to hate that phrase), this is one I hope passes quickly and our sweet obedient boy comes back soon.

Mini Vacation

We had a mini vacation this past weekend heading to Dutch Wonderland and staying overnight to go to Day Out with Thomas. Aiden loved both and we all had some great family time, laughing and giggling a lot. It made Keith's father's day and we hope all the Dad's out there enjoyed their day as much as he did.

Aiden did great at the rides at Dutch Wonderland, even though we'd ask him if wanted to do a ride and he say no. He would keep saying again, smiling and laughing. And of course, Day out with Thomas was his favorite! We did it once before in November, but it was nice to experience without being bundled up! Below are some pics of Dutch Wonderland and the next post down has Thomas pics. Enjoy!

It's Summertime...unofficially

May seemed to just blow through without much thought and now I'm looking at my calendar and it's already the 2nd day of June, we have already had a heatwave, and Memorial Day has past. Crazy.

First of all, Keith and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on May 22nd- very low key with just going out to dinner, but it was nice to get out and spend some time having adult conversations without a 2 1/2 yr old opinion :). We also had a nice (but what turned into VERY BUSY) Memorial Day hanging out with great friends and seeing family. Although months past quickly and we have so much to do, I enjoy the time spent with family and friends in our lives.

Aiden has enjoyed the last month with going to the carnival (he got to ride "Thomas" there) at our local hospital, playing with his water table (again finally!) and having play dates with our friends. He's also had a bit of a rough month with a trip to the doctors for what appears to be some hair loss (we notice his hair has thinned on top, but the doctor isn't concerned although they're running some test to be safe) and a trip to the ER for what is probably a peanut allergy.

Today we stopped by the pool and he is totally going to be my water rat. Even though it was 80 degrees and the water was cool (especially if you weren't moving around) he loved it, laughing, splashing, kicking and dunking his face in. It was great to see him enjoying it so much as last year he looked so unsure. We have now deemed Thursday afternoons/evening family night...hopefully at the pool for the rest of the summer.

We hope every has a wonderful summer with family and friends and enjoy all the moments of sunshine, laughter and love!

Mandy Gets Married...

The Bride and Groom- Henry and Amanda Buchholz

Well now I have no single 1st cousins left- my cousin Amanda got married last week. LOL! The oldest of my 2 first cousins, she married a great guy name Henry....and a CPA no less. The day was beautiful, full of sunshine and warmth and after the "tragedies" leading up the wedding she deserved it! Here are some pics to enjoy as my family continually expands!

The female cousins (minus Lindsay) and their Moms. This would include my Mom and Aunt's first cousins and their girls. My mom's generations were like sisters and we were all raised to be like 1st cousins, very close
