A month post surgery

So here we are a month post surgery (on Monday the 9th)... and all is different, but the same.

What's different- JPs leg to begin with, while we only seen brief glimpses of his "new" leg, we love it and cant wait to see it ever day! Another difference- surviving and handling a child who has had massive reconstructive surgery. It definitely hasn't been easy- it's been filled with lots of tears (JP and Mommy), a lot of sleepless nights, and lots of doctors appointments & cast changes, but we have made it to the other side!
we got to keep the latest cast that was cut off!

What's the same is our healthy, crazy, active boy. While the first week, JP was more quiet & laid-back  then usual that has changed- he now is talking and climbs and crawls and gets into everything! Who would have thought a child who had 11 procedures in one day, a cast for 4 weeks now, a kid who could walk and has been prohibited for the last month would be just as crazy as ever...not me!

But it starts to show you just how resilient kids are! While there's some days I still wonder, has this changed him? Will he remember that it started this early? Has this changed his personality? He constantly reminds me- "No Mom, I was born crazy!" LOL
Oh and being a Rockstar with Daddy!

He continually shows us it's not easy, but he's dealing with it and getting the hang of things.  We hope his cast comes off in the next two to four weeks and we can start PT. We hope to move on to the "next phase" of FH, which should be enjoying JP walking on two feet underneath his legs, with lengthening surgery a little bit in the distance.
